State Meet Volunteers: Register at the "Volunteer Spot"

Sign-up  to volunteer for the STATE MEET!!! We need your help to fill 100 volunteer spots over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 31, Aug 1 and 2.  We are using a software called VolunteerSpot to facilitate sign up.  It is quick, easy and confidential:

• We are asking each family to sign up for 2 (or more) shifts over the three days.
• If you signed up early in the year to work a "day of the meet" job you will still need to go to VolunteerSpot to sign up for the day, job, and time slot that works best for you.  Marlins will not be timing at the State Meet so no timing shifts are available.
• If you have been on a committee and haven't had a chance to help out much, then please sign up for a day of the meet job.
• If you have not fulfilled you regular season volunteer requirement please sign up for some additional State Meet jobs.
• If you are working on the day your child swims we will make sure you can watch the race.
• Please complete all volunteer sign-up by Friday 6/24/2009 at the very latest!
Thank you to everyone who has already signed up.  We are half-way to filling all our volunteer needs!

If you have any questions, please contact Peggy Mroz, foxawatmsn.com (replace at with the @ sign when sending an email)

The Golden Marlins Swim Team runs on parent power.  The Golden Marlins Swim Team Board consists of parent volunteers, and volunteers are needed year round to keep the swim team going.  However, the demand for volunteers is greatest in the summer season, to organize and run swim meets.
Unlike soccer, baseball, basketball, or many of the other sports that our kids often participate in, swimming requires a large number of volunteers to run a meet.  Whether it is timers, concessions, ribbons, heating, judging, set up, or tear down, there are a lot of jobs to go around.  Every summer, we will need to fill over 400 volunteer positions.  A home meet alone takes 70 people to run.

The volunteer requirement for the 2009 summer swim season is:
4 volunteer sessions during regular season meets or 1 season-long assignment,
plus
1 State Meet commitment.

  • Each family is required to submit a $150 volunteer deposit check for the summer season.

    ·  After fulfilling all volunteer sessions, we will destroy the volunteer deposit check.

    ·  We will ask you to sign in every time you volunteer, so we can keep track of your volunteer sessions.

    ·  We will notify you before the end of the season, if it does not look like you will be fulfilling your volunteer requirement and work with you to find volunteer sessions for you.  (We will not just suddenly cash your check)

    ·  If, however, you prefer us to cash your check, rather than fulfilling your volunteer sessions, please let us know.  Write: “Please cash my volunteer deposit” on the registration form.

Swim Meet Session Volunteer Positions:

Sign up for at least four sessions to fulfill volunteer requirement. Some families do all required sessions during one meet; others do one session per meet. For example, one parent may sign up for the June 20 meet as timer in session 1 and timer in session 2, both parents sign up for tear down, and you have fulfilled all four sessions of your volunteer requirement in one meet.

A couple notes on volunteer sign-up:

The board reserves the right to assign/fill certain key volunteer positions (e.g. Head Official) or positions which require work in advance of the Summer Season (e.g. Bagel Coordinator and many of the state meet jobs) in advance of the registration meeting.  All other positions are offered up for sign-up on a first come/first serve basis beginning at the registration meeting until all positions are filled.
